I too was a midwatch cowboy. In the late 80's I was one of a dwindling cadre of non-nuclear trained Weapons Officers. I was a senior LT, passed over for LCDR and on what turned out to be my last patrol on the USS Florida (SSBN 728)I spent the entire patrol as the midwatch OOD. It's nice to see that some things never change.
